Sowing Seeds of Faith: EFI’s Discipleship Through Agricultural Stewardship

It’s not agricultural development; it’s discipleship of farmers through the church in agriculture, and it multiplies the impact through generations of disciples discipling others.

We at Equipping Farmers International (EFI) are humbled by the way God is using our ministry to cultivate not just crops, but disciples for His Kingdom. Our recent work in Zambia, in partnership with ThirdMill and Kachema Afrika Institute, beautifully illustrates how the Lord is multiplying our efforts beyond what we could have imagined.

Last year EFI received several surprising unsolicited reports of our agricultural discipleship program spreading through up to four generations:

1. EFI staff disciples regional trainers, who
2. disciple local trainers, who
3. disciple church leaders, who
4. disciple community farmers.

This living testament to Matthew 28:19-20 shows how the Great Commission is being fulfilled through agricultural stewardship.

Reaping a Harvest of Transformation

All church plants in the villages are effectively implementing the principles taught by EFI brothers from Malawi.

-Rev. Millan Mambwe

The Lord’s hand is evident in the transformation we’re seeing:

Reverend Millan Mambwe is passing on knowledge learned from EFI trainings to other disciples.
  • Spiritual Growth: New Bible study groups are sprouting, and community outreach is blossoming.
  • Agricultural Abundance: Despite challenging droughts, our brothers and sisters report bountiful harvests.
  • Faithful Stewardship: Families are better equipped to care for God’s creation and for one another.

Rev. Millan Mambwe shares, “All church plants in the villages are effectively implementing the principles taught by EFI brothers from Malawi. The remarkable harvests achieved despite the drought have generated considerable interest.”

Our vision is to extend this model of discipleship and agricultural training to more communities. Rev. Mambwe echoes this sentiment: “Our goal this year is to conduct outreach programs in these villages, training local residents alongside our church planters to disseminate this successful agricultural methodology.”

At EFI, we humbly recognize that it’s not by our might, nor by our power, but by God’s Spirit that lives are being changed. We’re merely instruments in His hands, equipping farmers with both spiritual nourishment and practical skills to create a sustainable cycle of growth—in faith, in agriculture, and in community development.

We invite you to join us in this Kingdom work. Together, let’s continue to cultivate disciples who are transforming their communities through faithful stewardship of both the land and the Word. For we know that our labor in the Lord is not in vain (1 Corinthians 15:58).
